Our History

The VELUX story began in 1941 with our founder Villum Kann Rasmussen’s simple idea of transforming unused dark attics into bright liveable spaces. Our distinctive name is a combination of ‘VE’, short for ventilation and ‘LUX’, Latin for light – VELUX.

Our Model Company Objective, which aptly defines we the way we do business was formulated by our founder Villum Kann Rasmussen in 1965.
